 "The Skoot"

My name is Skooter.  I am a Coton de Tulear, Family Pet and Therapy Dog.

What's a therapy dog?  Sometimes people get me confused with "Service Dogs."  A service dog assists humans with things they can not do themselves.  A "Therapy Dog" makes people smile.  I get really excited when my human mom brings me into the hospital to visit kids.  I am a small dog so, I can sit on the bed with the patients.  I do some tricks and mom talks a little bit.  I'm pretty sure the kids love me.  Even kids that are afraid of dogs end up patting me.  Sometimes I sneak in some kisses, too.

I remember one time I had to sit at the end of the hall while a boy on crutches walked toward me.  I guess he was doing physical therapy.  Another time, a teenage boy didn't want to get out of bed until he found out that I was there.  I couldn't go in his "clean room" but I went up to the window and gave him window licks and did some tricks for him.  He was laughing.

And then there was Maddi.  My best friend in Clinic.  She almost cried when I had to leave.  She even tried to climb into my carry crate.  I would hang out with her while she got her chemo.  I'm glad I could help pass time with her.

There was a little guy in the Intensive Care.  He was so weak and tired.  He could barely move.  When I sat on his bed, he lifted his hand to pat me so, I gave his hand some kisses.  I'm not sure why everyone was crying.

Another kid told me that I was like a clown and I should be in the circus.  He was laughing with me.

I like to give trinkets to the kids when it is a holiday.  I just made Valentines for the kids.  Scroll down to see them.

I hope you like my pictures.  And if you are one of my friends at the hospital reading this, I'll see you on "Woofin' Wednesday."  See Ginny for my schedule.
